Chances of winning and prizes OK, so you probably want
to know what the chances are of us winning a prize, and if we do win, how
much we’ll get. I am not a mathematical
expert, so if you spot any errors then please email me and let me know. Most of the prizes change slightly from
week to week depending on how many winners there are etc. But on the National Lottery website they
have worked out what the average prizes are, and I’ve used their figures to
work out how much we’d win. This is what I think the
chances and prizes are: Saturday Lotto 3 Numbers The chance of getting 3
numbers is 1 in 23 Playing this way means
that if we get 3 numbers, 10 tickets have three numbers so we win £100, or
£3.57 each. 4 Numbers The chance of getting 4 numbers
is 1 in 244 If we get 4 numbers, 6
tickets have 4 numbers and 16 tickets have 3 numbers so we win £532, or £19
each. 5 Numbers The chance of getting 5
numbers is 1 in 6091 If we get 5 numbers, 3
tickets have 5 numbers, 15 tickets have 4 numbers and 10 tickets have 3
numbers so we win £5530, or £197.5 each. 5 Numbers plus the bonus ball The chance of getting 5
numbers plus the bonus ball is 1 in 87297 If we get 5 numbers plus
the bonus ball, 1 ticket has 5 plus the bonus ball,
2 tickets have 5 numbers, 15 tickets have 4 numbers and 10 tickets have 3
numbers so we win £104,030, or £3715 each. Jackpot The chance of getting the
Jackpot is 1 in 499422 If we get 6 numbers, 1
ticket has 6 numbers, 12 tickets have 5 numbers, 15
tickets have 4 numbers. So we win
£2018930, or £72,105 each. Euro Millions 1 Number The chance of getting one
number is 1 in 3 If we match one number we
have one ticket with one number and 2 lucky stars. We win £8.90, or 25p each(!) 2 Numbers The chance of getting 2
numbers is 1 in 15 If we match 2 numbers we
have 1 ticket with 2 numbers plus 2 lucky stars, and 14 tickets with 2
numbers plus 1 lucky star. We win £133.30 or £3.70
each 3 Numbers The chance of getting 3
numbers is 1 in 214 If we match 3 numbers, we
have 1 ticket with 3 numbers plus 2 lucky stars, 14 tickets with 3 numbers
plus 1 lucky star, and we have 21 tickets with 3 numbers. We win £682.4 or £18.96
each 4 Numbers The chance of getting 4
numbers is 1 in 9417 If we match 4 numbers, we
have 1 ticket with 4 numbers plus 2 lucky stars, 14 tickets with 4 numbers
plus 1 lucky star, and we have 21 tickets with 4 numbers. We win £8855.60, or £246
each 5 Numbers The chance of getting 5
numbers is 1 in 2118760 If we get the jackpot,
then we get whatever that happens to be that week. It could be 1 million each. |
